Waratah Brass is proudly connected to the people and community of Newcastle and Lake Macquarie. Many of our players are local residents who are committed to excellence in music and the provision of entertaining performances. Likewise, we are committed to laying the foundation for the future by fostering young musicians in the Waratah Academy Brass Band.
Waratah Brass proudly supports veterans by performing at local Anzac Day events and services, and contributes to the local banding community by competing in the annual East Coast of Australia Championships held at the Newcastle Conservatorium Complex in June each year.
Held at the Lake Macquarie Performing Arts Centre, friends and supporters of Waratah Brass, as well as anyone with an interest in brass band music can come along for an extremely enjoyable and affordable afternoon watching this eminent group of musicians perform a wide variety of musical styles – from romantic to swing, popular classics to movie themes and sacred to Broadway.
Although Waratah Brass includes some professional musicians, most of the players in the band perform as amateurs, who dedicate their own time to the enjoyment of performing in a brass band.
